Stomach Fat 101
Everyone has fat, both the layers of subcutaneous fat just under the skin that helps insulate the body and the deeper visceral fat that surrounds and protects the organs.
The best way to reduce belly fat is by:
- minimising stress – stress triggers a hormone, cortisol. When we are constantly stressed the body secretes high levels of cortisol which can cause us to overeat which can lead to excess fat being stored in the abdominal region.
- exercising daily
- getting enough sleep preferably 7 hours and lastly
- eating a clean and nutritious diet that doesn’t involve fatty, salty and sugary foods.
Endless sit ups are unfortunately not your ticket to a flat stomach … sorry! They may help strengthen your core but they ain’t going to take away the stubborn fat that doesn’t want to move.
Belly fat is related to your diet!
Of course you need your exercise too, but if you are exercising for 1 hour what are you doing for the other 23 hours? What you are putting into your mouth is going to determine if you gain excess weight or not.
The healthier and cleaner you eat, the more efficiently your body will function and the less excess fat you will gain on your body.
