Keep your knees healthy!


Our knees allow us to perform movements such as walking, sitting, standing not to mention squatting, lunging, jumping and stepping, all of these movements we do daily without even thinking of it. It is one of the most complex joints in the human body which means if the knees aren’t being taken care of, there is a higher risk for injury.

 To keep your knees strong it is important to strengthen the surrounding muscles that protects the knee joint such as the quadriceps, hamstrings, adductors and glutes. 

Here is also a few tips on keeping your knees healthy:

1. The number one secret to happy knees? Is stay at a healthy weight. For every extra pound you gain puts 4x more pressure on your knees while walking. 

2. If your quadriceps or hamstring muscles are too tight, they will pull on the knee cap causing pain. So it is important to regularly foam roll or stretch out these muscles. 

3. If you do happen to be recovering from a knee injury or surgery be sure to listen to your doctor or physiotherapist and take care of your knee.
